Children's Hospital Central California is accredited by the Institute for Medical Quality/California Medical Association (IMQ/CMA) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Children's Hospital takes responsibility for the content, quality and scientific integrity of this CME activity. Children's Hospital designates this educational activity for a maximum of 12.5 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. This credit may also be applied to the CMA Certification in Continuing Medical Education.

As a CME provider accredited by the Institute for Medical/California Medical Association Quality (IMQ/CMA), it is the intent of Children's Hospital Central California to ensure independence from commercial influence in its educational activities, and to present objective, balanced information which is based on appropriate clinical evidence representing the best of medical practice.

Conference Description and Objectives

The purpose of this program is to update physicians on the history as well as recent advances in the field of pediatric cardiology. Conference participants will explore a variety of cardiac diagnoses, procedures, and interventions occurring throughout a patient’s lifespan. Following the program, the participant should be able to:

  • List and explain controversial surgical procedures currently in use for congenital heart disease
  • Apply the latest advances in interventional cardiology and outcomes tracking in patient care
  • Review challenges in the treatment and management of rhythm disorders
  • Utilize current imaging techniques and discuss the strengths and weaknesses of each
  • Apply the latest treatment strategies to effectively manage congenital and acquired coronary artery anomalies
  • Discuss the challenges of managing congenital heart disease in adults
  • Summarize current research being conducted by Fellows and Residents in the field of congenital heart disease
